first time? we'd love to help!
Simply, we’re all about Jesus. Our church is a place where you’ll find the love, grace, and forgiveness that Jesus gives to everyone. You won’t be met with shame, guilt, or condemnation. And we really don’t care how you’re dressed. No matter who you are or what you’ve been through, no matter what baggage or questions you come with, there’s a place for you here.
We understand how it feels to walk in for the first time. All of us once walked into Maitland for the first time too.We would love for you to feel like you belong here, and that you experience the love of Jesus in this place!
At Maitland, we’re really relaxed and friendly, and would be ready to welcome you whoever you are and however you are. We’ll do our best to make you feel at home and to know you are so loved! Simply come as you are.
We understand that meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating and the thought of taking those first steps into a new church can be daunting. We want to help you to feel so welcome and loved, and really hope to make your first experience at Maitland Church as comfortable as possible.
There will be some wonderfully friendly people waiting at the door, but if you would like someone to meet you outside then please drop us a message here, or on our socials.
Once you come into our main worship space, you can take a seat wherever you like or feel free to ask someone to show you round the church.
We enjoy worshiping together as we sing incredible truths and enjoy being in the presence of God together. We spend time engaging with the Bible and respond with worship, prayer and ministry. If this is totally alien to you, don’t worry – we’ll explain it in the moment!
We’re huge believers in the power of prayer so we pray here, pray now meaning we make time and space to pray in the moment, with each other and for each other.
We expect the gathering to last an hour and a half, although we are ready to be responsive to God moving and ministering to us.
We also love having children and young people in the church, and we understand the challenges of having young children in the church (Help, my kids are screaming…you know how it goes!). Really, don’t worry. We want them to feel welcome and at home too, and believe all children and young people should have strong, engaging Bible teaching, safely led by a team of DBS checked leaders.
After the service, we spend time together over a good cup of tea and (nice) coffee, and whatever treats we’re blessed with that Sunday!
Good question! You can find our statement of faith here, along with our doctrinal distinctives.
You are welcome to come and explore, dig deeper and ask questions – we really don’t mind talking things through.
There will be space in the nearby streets: Storeton Road or Birch Road. Alternatively, the Queens Arms have kindly given us permission to use their car park for morning services.
(Please do not park in Storeton Close directly opposite the church as this is residential parking only.)
There is no dress code – please just wear whatever you normally would!
They’ll fit right in with the others!
We hope you and your children will feel right at home. If you feel like you need space, however, there are several rooms available to use with comfortable seating, and a creche for babies.
